I do like BBC classics adaptions, it seems (though I can't say I have seen many.) <br />I am doing excellent with the Classics Challenge, I must say. I am reading so many classics that I can count two or three reads for a few of the categories. It is the BBC serialization of The Warden / Barchester Towers by Anthony Trollope with Alan Rickman starring as the slimy Mr Slope! I cannot wait to view it as I just completed Barchester Towers. Trollope is very good in depicting widows as women who controlled their own money and were able to enjoy their lives with minimal male supervision.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-8798919260105837932014-05-27T00:26:39.158-04:002014-05-27T00:26:39.158-04:00I lasted approximately two hours after writing the...I lasted approximately two hours after writing the above comment. I picked the DVD up at the library that morning and now have only one episode left. So much for reading the book before watching this again! That said, watching has only made me that much more eager to read, so really it's a win-win.Claire (The Captive Reader)https://www.blogger.com/profile/07430380065718826213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-54626269824929406062014-05-25T09:09:51.692-04:002014-05-25T09:09:51.692-04:00Oo, I'm adding this to my Netflix queue! I particularly love the way they play the Reverend Gibson storyline--it makes me laugh out loud every time I watch this! I can't imagine how hard it would be to write a screenplay of a Trollope novel. So many characters, sub-plots, sub-sub-plots, etc. I mean, if a brilliant author decides these are worthy of being included in the story, that's hard to disregard.Bree (Another Look Book)http://anotherlookbook.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-81500701778648705622014-05-24T12:43:38.348-04:002014-05-24T12:43:38.348-04:00I don't remember seeing this (if I did?) but I...I don't remember seeing this (if I did?) but I'm going to look for it now. I know I've seen this but it was years ago.
