I will definitely read all of the Pyms I've read again, which is why I buy them, and I hope to read more very soon.Judithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06435116453270981662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-88687268088652729712018-04-21T16:52:40.470-04:002018-04-21T16:52:40.470-04:00This was one of my choices for 1977 Club too. I think it might be my favourite Pym novel so far, but I've only read three of them so that could change as I work through the rest of her books.Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06618973352348296555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-82893693805110418652018-04-20T15:51:22.823-04:002018-04-20T15:51:22.823-04:00I love B. I just like the quiet way she has of telling a story through her characters and their quiet lives. I agree, it took a little bit to grasp the difference between Edwin and Norman and Letty and Marcia at first. I think that the book is a little sad but ultimately there is room to be hopeful!Ruthiellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03871834571645928819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-37594266025171603562018-04-20T08:44:30.332-04:002018-04-20T08:44:30.332-04:00Haha, I'm glad you found some solace within th...Haha, I'm glad you found some solace within the 1970s! I have this Pym but haven't read it - it sounds like an interesting departure from the ones I have read. I'm not really into spy/thriller novels, but I should give them a try.Karen K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13483190930383406559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-80584738147543627132018-04-20T01:00:54.738-04:002018-04-20T01:00:54.738-04:00Barbara Pym is just wonderful! I really liked it, despite my sad feelings about the circumscribed lives of the characters. But as absurd as this is, there was something charmingly droll or quaint about the lives they chose for themselves. Each character had other options, in the end. It was this element of the choices they had and the lives they chose (even if their actions made it seem as though they didn't realize they had choices) that made this novel so interesting to me. I'm looking forward to reading more!Judithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06435116453270981662noreply@blogger.com
