I just finished East of Eden and I loved it, could hardly put it down. I did like parts of Tortilla Flat, and the writing is good -- I just couldn't get into the characters.Karen K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13483190930383406559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-15707773466800993092012-07-29T00:49:23.373-04:002012-07-29T00:49:23.373-04:00Tortilla Flat was one of the first Steinbck books ...Tortilla Flat was one of the first Steinbck books I purchased! I liked the cover and thought that its image suggested some connection with the great open spaces. I was so wrong! I began reading the book, not once, but several times. It is still on my "to be revisited later" list.Gemma Wisemanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17466540188839321484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-73160202125444551482012-07-27T20:28:04.128-04:002012-07-27T20:28:04.128-04:00In retrospect, I see a lot of similarities between...In retrospect, I see a lot of similarities between Tortilla Flat and Cannery Row, but I found the characters more interesting. I didn't see that much character development with Danny and his friends. I expected to hate Grapes of Wrath but the writing was great and the story was sad but I was completely absorbed in it and what happened to the characters.Karen K.http://karensbooksandchocolate.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-57103043171491852322012-07-27T11:19:59.201-04:002012-07-27T11:19:59.201-04:00Tortilla Flat was my first Steinbeck novel and I l...Tortilla Flat was my first Steinbeck novel and I loved it. I've since read Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday which I love, love, love. But I still have good happy memories about Tortilla Flat. I hated Grapes of Wrath. I do find each Steinbeck to be either hit or miss with me. Some I really enjoy and can appreciate, others I really don't like at all.Beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00793618692608823102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-68982649490681484702012-07-27T08:15:15.086-04:002012-07-27T08:15:15.086-04:00I've read about a third of East of Eden and I&...I've read about a third of East of Eden and I'm loving it so far.
