I struggled to finish this one, but glad I finished. There were "yikes, I'm pretty sure that's textbook Orientalism" passages. And other parts where Kipling seems to be openly mocking British colonialism more than I'd expected. And still other stretches where I was honestly just falling asleep. It's just the risk you run with some late 19th/early 20th century novels. Not my favorite book but glad I stuck it out.Ameliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15803799283410666198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-19607613547071971862017-12-29T02:16:49.004-05:002017-12-29T02:16:49.004-05:00That fabled land of Shangri-La is my choice. That fabled land of Shangri-La is my choice.neerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01986509319841061021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-13009381292602838912017-12-23T02:35:22.187-05:002017-12-23T02:35:22.187-05:00I read Bath Tangle by Georgette Heyer. I felt they were incomplete. The characters were not fully developed nor were the stories. This was more like a collection of story IDEAS to be expanded into stories.

1. The Sisters - I don't understand why it is called Sisters when in fact it is about the death of Father Flynn, their brother who was a priest.
2. The Encounter - Two boys skip school for an adventure and meet a rather odd man. Why did they skip and why didn't the third boy? Who is the man? What is his story?
After this I ceased writing individual comments since there just wasn't much there. And the book did NOT give me a feel for Dublin at all.
Margaret Mc Kinneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01915107541331633385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-60123506613704777482017-06-27T21:42:44.424-04:002017-06-27T21:42:44.424-04:00I read Alice in Wonderland (both Alice's Adven...I read Alice in Wonderland (both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass).
