And I found James Pope-Hennessy's official biography of Queen Mary fascinating & moving - though he editorializes a bit too.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782561487396697870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-19044376689762392312015-02-13T20:07:11.875-05:002015-02-13T20:07:11.875-05:00That sounds interesting -- I know a little about G...That sounds interesting -- I know a little about George III after reading Becoming Queen Victoria by Kate Williams which I just loved. I know little about Victoria's children and really should, given how much Victorian lit I read. I also like pictures in books like this, and family trees are essential! Poor Beatrice--at least she got to marry--beautiful dress, btw.

One of my favorite non-fiction books about Victorian times is Parallel Lives, by Phyllis Rose--she compares 5 Victorian marriages, those of John Ruskin, Thomas Carlyle, John Stuart Mil, Charles Dickens, and George Eliot. I read it >15 years ago, so I pulled it out onto my TBR shelf and hope I get to it later this year.JaneGShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11094501834387622997noreply@blogger.com
