With knowledge of when and why she wrote it, provided in detail by her biography, it helped make lots of the pieces of her life fall into place. I did not think the viewpoint of her father "the Atticus figure" in Go Set A Watchman was so onerous. I understood it, given the history of the time and given their lives together. I can certainly understand not wanting to read it, but I do definitely recommend it. I knew a little of the story already...I think I might have read about Mitchell's backstory in Confederates in the Attic by Tony Horowitz? I also remember from Confederates in the Attic that the Atlanta Visitors Bureau occasionally fields requests from tourists wanting to see Tara...because they don't know its all fiction.Ruthiellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03871834571645928819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-25564256458029390922019-03-28T09:04:34.935-04:002019-03-28T09:04:34.935-04:00I hadn't thought of of that comparison, but I ...I hadn't thought of of that comparison, but I agree completely. I would love to know what happened to Scarlett and Rhett but I suspect she wouldn't have written a sequel. And how could another book compare to GWTW? Or TKAM? I still haven't read Go Set A Watchman and I don't think I want to. And it is terribly sad about Mitchell's death, she wasn't even 50. Some of the difficulties she faced post-publication remind me of those endured by Harper Lee after To Kill a Mockingbird was published, problems that went on for decades, and understandably, may have made it difficult HL to write more novels.<br />And how tragic that Mitchell's life ended the way it did.
