Classic in translation - `The Fortunes of the Rougons' by Emile Zola - challenging read but an enthralling introduction to the period. Thanks for the help Wikipedia! Novella - `Diary of a Provincial Lady' - by E M Delafield - funny Bridget Jones type of pace. Reminded me of my mother's struggles to dress and act in keeping with my father's status at work.. Children's book - `Little House in the Big Woods' by Laura Ingalls Wilder - what I missed growing up in England! It led me to her autobiography `Pioneer Girl' -how simple life seems now. Play - `Hedda Gabler' by Ibsen - Now I really must find a way to see it. With a person's name in the title - `Ann Veronica' by HG Wells - my first experience reading him. Disappointingly suburban end, but fascinating even so.
I am really enjoying this journey through the classics. Next up, a 500+ page Stegner which I will take along on a road trip to the Northwest.
PatKPatKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14340484003660647950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-32465940658809235402015-05-18T04:00:53.230-04:002015-05-18T04:00:53.230-04:00Thanks Karen.
