I've had a couple Persephones so far that I didn't love, but they were library books so I didn't mind so much. I didn't dislike it so much as I just didn't understand it so much.

Amanda -- well, we like different things, but I don't think it's a typical Persephone, if there is such a thing. I know you read Flush and that's a Persephone! And I know you have Wise Virgins by Leonard Woolf (which I'm hoping to borrow someday -- then we can discuss).

Jeanne -- I would say probably not. I've read 16, and so far my favorites were Miss Pettigrew, Miss Buncle's Book, and The Priory by Dorothy Whipple -- she's a huge favorite among Persephone devotees. I also loved Mariana by Monica Dickens.Karen K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13483190930383406559noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-68434725237830413722011-01-20T13:42:25.504-05:002011-01-20T13:42:25.504-05:00And maybe this isn't the one to try for my fir...And maybe this isn't the one to try for my first Persephone book by a woman writer?Jeannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01374498643286099244noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-9596485769292059152011-01-20T10:11:04.431-05:002011-01-20T10:11:04.431-05:00So this isn't the Persephone I should start wi...So this isn't the Persephone I should start with then, eh? :DAmandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07026099426503180472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8027299943447728658.post-56134760651879076162011-01-20T10:01:12.452-05:002011-01-20T10:01:12.452-05:00I just bought this for myself as a belated Christm...I just bought this for myself as a belated Christmas present but haven't started reading it.
