I'm really glad I had this opportunity to read a play for this challenge b/c I would have not bothered to read a play on my own. I never thought I was interested in plays at all, but now I feel differently about it after completing this category. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteSix classics read so far.Woamn author `O'Pioneers' Willa Cather - made me want to go to Nebraska and the Plains and read the rest of the trilogy, husband not quite so keen!. Classic in translation - `The Fortunes of the Rougons' by Emile Zola - challenging read but an enthralling introduction to the period. Thanks for the help Wikipedia! Novella - `Diary of a Provincial Lady' - by E M Delafield - funny Bridget Jones type of pace. Reminded me of my mother's struggles to dress and act in keeping with my father's status at work.. Children's book - `Little House in the Big Woods' by Laura Ingalls Wilder - what I missed growing up in England! It led me to her autobiography `Pioneer Girl' -how simple life seems now. Play - `Hedda Gabler' by Ibsen - Now I really must find a way to see it. With a person's name in the title - `Ann Veronica' by HG Wells - my first experience reading him. Disappointingly suburban end, but fascinating even so.

ReplyDeleteLike PatK I really want to see my classic play on stage. I read The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder and also saw the movie version but to me that was somewhat lacking.
