Challenge Link-Up Post: Classic Crime
Please link your reviews for your Classic crime story (fiction or non-fiction) here. This is only for the Classic Crime category. This can be a true crime story, mystery, detective novel, spy novel, etc., as long as a crime is an integral part of the story and it was published at least 50 years ago.
If you do not have a blog, or somewhere public on the internet where you post book reviews, please write your mini-review/thoughts in the comments section. If you like, you can include the name of your blog and/or the title of the book in your link, like this: "Karen K. @ Books and Chocolate (In Cold Blood)."

Hi! I'm sorry I entered twice... it was the wrong link, and I couldn't figure how to change it. Please delete the wrong one! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the book I finished was The French Powder Mystery by Ellery Queen, and my review is on Goodreads. Happy reading! Claudia
Done, no problem!
DeleteMurder on teh Orient Express = my first foray into Christie. Such fun!
ReplyDeleteJust added my first book for the challenge: And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.
ReplyDeleteI read the same one! :)
DeleteI read The Red House Mystery by A. A. Milne. Thought it was pretty good.
ReplyDelete(What does it mean "must have a strong romantic element to the story"?)
Sorry! That was leftover from last year's link to a romance (I just cut and pasted the introduction). Ooops! I've corrected it now. No romance necessary in the crime classic!
DeleteI read Murder on the Orient Express and loved it. My first Agatha Christie!
ReplyDeleteI read "The Seven Dials Mystery", an early work by Agatha Christie. It's sort of a cross between P. G. Wodehouse and Miss Marple. A bit odd, but enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThe Crime at Black Dudley is the first Margery Allingham book I have read. I was expecting Albert Campion to be the protagonist and while he isn't you can see why he became the main character of the series because there are so many secrets about him to uncover.
ReplyDeleteI've finally started reading the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries in order! Unnatural Death is a good beginning for the series.
ReplyDeleteI read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie.
ReplyDeleteI read Truman Capote's In Cold Blood. Such a well-written account of the truly horrifying mass murder of an entire family in 1959.
ReplyDeleteThe Man Who was Thursday - fascinating and profound, but still Wow! Much I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteI read The Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie. I didn't like the characters in this one as much as the ones in her first book, but I still really liked the book overall!
ReplyDeleteI read Murder on the Orient Express. Not as good as I hoped, but still entertaining!
ReplyDeleteI read Crime and Punishment. An enjoyable read, although fairly dark.
ReplyDeleteI read The Postman Always Rings Twice. What fun!
ReplyDeleteI thought Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde would be a good pick for someone new to the classics. But I felt I knew to much about it before I read it to be able to fully appreciate its full impact at the time.
ReplyDeleteI read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd which has been honored by multiple organizations as the best crime novel of all time!
ReplyDeleteI read The Maltese Falcon.
