Challenge Link-Up Post: Classic by a New-to-You Author

Please link your reviews for your Classic By An Author That's New To You here.  This is only for the Classic By An Author That's New To You category.  This should be a classic by an author you've never read before (it doesn't necessarily have to be an author you'd never heard of.)

If you do not have a blog, or somewhere public on the internet where you post book reviews, please write your mini-review/thoughts in the comments section.  If you like, you can include the name of your blog and/or the title of the book in your link, like this: "Karen K. @ Books and Chocolate (Crime and Punishment)."

  1. I'm so sorry Karen, I made a mistake. I accidentally posted a review here that was supposed to be for the classic by a favorite author link. I posted my link there, could you delete this one? Thank you!

  2. I posted a link to my review of "Père Goriot" in the #1 spot. To me it is showing as just a blank, but when I tried to re-post it just now, it tells me the link has already been submitted. I'm not sure what's going on, I'll post the link here too: https://joelendil.com/2021/01/15/cynicism-greed/

    1. Sorry about that, I saw it and couldn't figure out whose it was! That was so weird. I've deleted the link and added it again.

    1. I loved it. I read 'My Cousin Rachel' by Daphne Du Maurier for the 'New Classic By a Favorite Author' category in this challenge. It was bewitching.

  4. "Such is Life" by Joseph Furphy is a book rich in landscape, characters and humour. Furphy was the child of Irish immigrants and wrote stories and poetry from a young age. I had never heard of him before and Australian friend recommended this book. Apparently some Australians use the word `furphy' to mean a tall story. If you read this book you will find many episodes that would fit that characterization.
