100 Followers Giveaway!

I just checked my blog to update a post and realized I'd achieved 100 followers!   How exciting!!

I'm so verklempt, I've decided a giveaway is in order!!  One lucky winner will receive the book of their choice -- you can choose any book that I've reviewed on this blog since I started in September of 2009.  The caveats:  the book must be in print; must be paperback; and must be available from The Book Depository; also, the winner must live in a place to which TBD mails.

To enter, please post a comment telling me which book from my reviews interests you the most and why.  According to my count, I've reviewed 102 books.  I was going to retype the list, but that would take too long.  You can click on the tabs on top to see links to books I've reviewed since I began the blog (for 2009 books, make sure and scroll down to the bottom.  I didn't start blogging so there's nine months' worth of books on the list that I hadn't reviewed.)  Contest entrants are not limited to books I liked -- even if I didn't like a book, that doesn't mean you won't love it, right?

Also, please make sure I have some way to contact you to let you know that you've won!!  If I can't automatically link back to your blog, please leave an email along with your comment.  I'll leave the giveaway open until Friday, May 6 at 5 p.m. Central U.S. Standard Time.

  1. Hi-I would love to read Excellent Women by Barbara Pym-she is a writer I have wished to try for some time-my understanding is that this considered the best of her work-thanks for offering this contest-

  3. Congratulations on reaching 100 followers! I would go back clear to the beginning and love to read This Is Where I Leave You by Topper. It's been on my wish list forever but I still haven't read it. I love quirky books that can make me laugh and your review leads me to believe I would really enjoy it. Thanks for the chance.

  5. Congrats on reaching 100 followers! :)
I would love to read The Priory by Dorothy Whipple since I have always wanted to try a Persephone book and you mentioned in your review that it's your favorite Persephone.

  8. Congratulations! I'm not entering the contest (too many books on hand already), but my favorite review (so far) was the one you did of the London Child of the 1870s. The tabs will be a great way of exploring your archives. Susan E

  9. Congratulations! If I'm the lucky hat-pullee, please may I have Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell?
One day I'll have 100 followers and do something similar :o).

  10. Congrats! I would love to read Miss Buncle's Book as I've never read any Persephone books. This one seems so charming and always gets great reviews.

  12. Congrats on the 100! I wasn't actually on your GFC list yet, so I think I was getting your posts via RSS or so. (not sure)

Anyway, I'd love to win This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper. I love family secrets and family troubles!

It was fun to have a look through your books to make a choice.

    Thanks for the giveaway.

  13. Congratulations. We have loved so many of the same books and you have moved many others up my TBR list.

There's no need to enter me - I have ridiculous numbers of books to read already.

  14. Congratulations on reaching this major milestone. Just scanning the books from 2009 and 2010, I can see why you have so many followers--you read and write about such great books.

Should I win, I would love a copy of Daddy Longlegs. Like you, I haven't yet read this classic and it sounds delightful.

  18. Just so you know, I don't officially "follow" anyone, but I always check out your reviews. (And I have more books than I know what to do with right now, so don't want to enter the giveaway.)

  19. Oh, fabulous! What a generous idea :-) I have really enjoyed your blog, Karen, and I'm glad that I'm in the company of at least 99 other people in doing so.

If I had to pick a book from the list you've read and reviewed on here, it would be Diary of a Provincial Lady. Though really, I admit, you make me want to read ALL the Persephones, especially Dorothy Whipple... but Provincial Lady sounds like my kind of woman ;-)

  20. Congrats on your milestone. I think I'll have to go for a Persephone -- and I have yet to read Dorothy Whipple, so I say THE PRIORY, which you name as your favorite (at least when you reviewed it).

  21. What a generous offer. And congratulations on all those followers. I'd also choose a Persephone, Dorothy Canfield Fisher's The Homemaker - and, of course, if I won I could tell you what happens on the missing page!

  22. Congratulations on all your followers. I would love to be entered for Daddy Long Legs: And, Dear Enemy by Jean Webster if I may.

  23. This is where I must confess to, on a rainy day (so to speak) at work I went through most of your blog entries and THUS have a list of books I added to my 'to-read' tag on goodreads, all of which were because of your blog.

My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell sounds hilarious and awesome. I'm really big on stories about family, and it's all the better if they're funny instead of tragic and sad-making.

Glad you've gotten so many followers!

  24. Congratulations on 100! I love nice round numbers when it comes to followers.
I would love a chance to win The Warden by Trollope. I have not read anything by him yet, but I'm guessing he's right up my alley!

  25. I would choose Diary of a Provincial Lady. And I'm so glad you have 100 followers! You should have 10 times that though. I love your posts. :)
