  2. I read Shirley by Charlotte Bronte. It was OK - Jane Eyre and Tenant of Wildfell Hall are definitely the best of the Brontes.

  4. I had watched a documentary about Janet Frame, considered one of New Zealand's greatest writers but I had never read any of her work. This is a powerful book, beautifully written. I definitely will read more of her work.
